Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most crucial characters of the Star Wars universe. Even though the original Skywalker Saga is concluded, the fans will want some of the universe to be kept alive. After the huge success of the Mandalorian, we were stoked to watch the Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney plus. I got worried when I learned that Kathleen Kennedy, the President of Lucasfilm is not onboard with the script.
The crew of the show is told they will have to stop working on the project and wait for further instructions. No return date is final yet. The Obi-Wan series was helmed by Deborah Chow, who directed an episode of the Mandalorian, and Hossein Amini who write the movie Drive. They are no longer a part of the production.
Ewan McGregor is supposed to reprise his role as Obi-Wan as the series was supposed to begin eight years after the events of Revenge Of The Sith. Even though the series is said to be on hold indefinitely, Lucasfilm is exploring all possible options to continue the series. They are even saying the premier won’t be delayed due to the hiatus. I think there won’t be many changes in the script and the preparations won’t need to be altered in terms of the production designs and characters.
I hope Lucasfilm find new showrunners and start the shooting in the summer as planned. I am more than excited to see Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan back on the screen. I hope the show will be on an equal footing to the Mandalorian.
