Denis Villeneuve is one of the most celebrated directors of our time. His movies are unique, entertaining, and emotionally engaging. He never makes a movie dependent on the bigger picture; there will always be elements of a personal struggle. We know his work from films like Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Prisoners, and Incendies. Now, he is directing the movie Dune, which is based on the most successful science fiction novel of all time.

Recently, the first character and location images were released by Legendary Pictures. The movie has a star studded ensemble which includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. As you can see it is set to be one of the most iconic movie castings of all time.

Dune is not just an epic war film, where good battles the evil; it is much more complex and personal than that. The story is set in Dune, a desert planet, which is the only source of spice melange (A drug which enhances human capabilities and enables interstellar travel), in short, it is the Lazarus of all items. Dune will be an interplanetary movie with exciting characters.

I would say do not expect an Avatar-like film, it will be different, much different. The twists and turns of Dune make it a great book, and the originality of the ideas make it the best science fiction novel series. Denis Villeneuve is the right man to helm the project, I think Dune will teach a thing or two about life, power, war, and human consciousness.
