One of the things that we often ignore is our neck. But for the most part, it is one body part that keeps us going. If I am not wrong, then you are reading this on your smartphone and in the process, stressing your neck. It is without a doubt that we spend a lot of time watching television, using smartphones, and working on laptops. During this, we suffer from neck pain. You may not experience this in the beginning, but at some point in your life, your neck will give up and start showing problematic signs. I am not saying nothing can be done, all you need to do is work on improving your neck posture.
As we all know, we can’t ditch our digital lives, so it is better to take care of our neck with the help of some exercises. Here, I have combined some of the best exercises that will help you improve your neck posture. So without further ado, let us check them out.
# Advanced Cobra Exercise
One of the things that you need to work on is improving your neck strength, and this workout will help you achieve exactly the same. To perform this, you will need to lie down on the ground with your face downwards. You can lie down on a mat to feel comfortable. Make sure that your legs are stretched. Now, both your shoulder blades should be upwards and lift both your hands along. Remember to keep your forehead above the ground and eyes towards the ground. You can perform it 10 times.
# Downward Facing Dog
This exercise is perfect for anterior chest wall and shoulders. These are often distressed because of heavy usage of tech gadgets. From your shoulder blades to neck, everything in between is benefitted with this workout. To perform, tuck your toes and lift your hips high. In the process, make sure that your hip bones are toward the ceiling. Now, take your heels toward the mat. Now, you need to drop your head so that your neck extends. Make sure to put pressure on your wrists. After this, take three deep breathes while being in the same position and then relax. You can repeat the exercise 10 times.
# Side Bends
Now, this is something that we all often do after waking up from our seats for a long time. This is a quite useful workout for our neck and helps in improving its posture. To perform, bring your right hand and keep it on the top of your head. After this, push your head in the other direction with the help of your hand. Make sure you are not overstretching to keep things inside unhurt. You can repeat side bends five times on each side.
# Head drops
Another one of those simple workouts that will not require you to go to the gym. Head drops help in relieving any type of sickness or head pain. This is one of the most flexible exercises to perform. You can either do it in sitting or standing posture. After settling in your preferred position, take your head upwards and then push it back as much as you can. Then, come back to the first position. Repeat the same for 10 times in a row, and for better results, I would suggest to do it regularly.
# Chin Retraction
Chin retraction is one of the well-known neck posture improving exercise. This helps in a range of motion and relaxes the neck and provides comfort in the long run. To perform, this exercise you will need to lie on your back with knees bent and feet on the ground. Now, make sure to keep your eyes toward the ceiling and nose perpendicular. After this, nod your head but don’t move the neck. Sounds strange, isn’t it? Go ahead try it. This movement should be slower and do not even attempt to go fast. Now, come back to the initial position and repeat the exercise at least 10 times.
I guess, these workouts will definitely help in improving your neck posture. Just make sure to perform these exercises on a regular basis to get the best results and keep your neck stress-free.
