Gangster movies have a cult fanbase. Something is amusing about the life of wiseguys that attracts the audience on a large scale. To me, Mafia movies were a life lesson how the dark world of organized crime operates which deals with the worst of humanity, what men and women can do to each other to save themselves.
The action and the styles of these films are influential because they are cool. Mafia gangsters sure do have a great sense of dressing up. But more than anything else, these stories are just amazing to watch. The Godfather is one movie that changed me for good and prepared me for adulthood.
The Godfather 1 & 2
“Never hate your enemies. It affects your judgment.”
Arguably the most excellent movie of all time. The Godfather, part 1 and 2 will take you on a journey that will change your vision about life and family. Francis Ford Coppola is a genius for making the Godfather. Every single frame and dialogue of this movie teaches you something that will help you in your life’s battles.
When I was your age, they would say you could become cops or criminals; today what I’m saying to you is this: When facing a loaded gun, what’s the difference?
The magnum opus from Martin Scorsese is one of the most exceptional scripts and cast ensemble of all time. Unpredictable, sharp, foul, edgy you name any element of film making, you’ve got it in the Departed.
City of God
The sun is for everyone, the beach is for those who deserve it
The city of God is Brazil’s most famous movie. “If you run, the beast catches you; if you stay, the beast eats you.” City of God depicted the real events of Cidade de Deus suburb of Rio de Janeiro. Teenage gangster groups and their short lifespan is a warning for every kid who lost his way and trying to find shortcuts to make it big.
This is my home. My country. Frank Lucas don’t run from nobody. This is America.
Based on the real-life story of gangster Frank Lucas, American Gangster is different than a usual Mafia movie. Exciting characters, realistic scenarios, and the genius of organized crime are depicted with mastery by the legend Ridley Scott.
