When Wes Anderson decides to make a film, no one knows what it will actually be until the release. His films have a depth which needs to be read by focus. His production designs are always unique, colourful, and inspired by culture. He always works with an ensemble of actors who can’t say no to him; why? Because Wes brings something new out of you, something you didn’t that existed inside of you. Who wouldn’t want that?
The French Dispatch will be a special film for me because it’s about writing. The premise of the film is that A magazine is covering the best three stories of the decade. One is about an incarcerated painter, the second is about student protests, and the final one is kidnapping and which involves a chef. Such a refreshing premise with endless possibilities.
I never miss a film by Wes, his favourite film of mine is Moonrise Kingdom. In the French Dispatch, the cast is huge and the story complicated. The ensemble includes Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Francis McDormand, Adrian Broody, Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux, Jeffrey Wright, Owen Wilson, Christoph Waltz, Benicio del Toro, Saoirse Ronan, Kate Winslet, Elisabeth Moss, Edward Norton and the list goes on.
I am sure The French Dispatch will get many Oscar nominations and international acclaim from the audience. Only a few filmmakers have paved their way with their absolute originality, and such films make us love the art form of movie-making even more. The first look of the film is out and it will be releasing on July 24, 2020.
