Those of you who are familiar with the music of Elton John knows how personally he composes his songs. His narrative is metaphoric of every phase we went through his life. A homosexual kid who got into show business too early to comprehend, which made his career glorious but his life miserable. This is the best performance of Taron Egerton, he paid respects to Elton John by taking his legacy even further. I admire Taron’s dedication to his work even more now, his voice is incredible.
Dexter Fletcher directed so uniquely, the song sequences are incredible along with the costume designs. I learned so much about being loved through Rocketman. An artist needs to be loved for being himself more than he needed to be loved for his art. Elton John was deprived of the things he deserved the most, so he coped the void with drugs, sex, and self-destructive behaviours.
It takes so long for us to accept ourselves as who we are, but even the worst of us get there. The pain behind the glory is what feeds art sometimes. We are all humans, but only a few of us can express our emotions through words, Bernie Taupin is one of those rare talents who is equally responsible for Elton’s songs.
Rocketman is a must-watch for his fans and music lovers. If a person needs to see beyond the limelight of a rockstar, Rocketman would a good movie, to begin with. The music is so mellifluous and groovy, you can play it on loop.
