Rami Malek Fell Offstage After Winning His Best Actor Oscar at the 91st Academy Awards

What are Oscars without some drama, something interesting and something unexpected? Well, this year Green Book’s Best Picture win has already created a lot of drama. But, the most deserving candidate and probably the most obvious winner of the night was Rami Malek who bagged the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody as Queen’s frontman, Freddie Mercury. The win was splendid and something the actor would not have thought of, but things didn’t go according to the plan. The actor fell offstage after receiving his Oscar.

The actor tried his best to hold on to his Best Actor trophy but it eventually fell out of his hand too. Malek was surprised after he fell and was helped by people around him.

The paramedics were called after the actor fell to check on him. Rami was then taken to the first row’s chair to take rest. Nobody from the actor’s camp has commented on the injury.

He was also not able to pose with his fellow actors Mahershala Ali, Regina King and Olivia Colman, who won for Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress, respectively.

Rami won the Best Actor award and gave a powerful speech. He said: “My mom is in here somewhere, I love you. I love you, lady. My family, thank you for all of this. My dad didn’t get to see me do any of this, but I think he’s looking down on me right now. This is a monumental moment. I’m so appreciative to all of you, to everyone who has had a hand in getting me here. To the Academy, to people who took a change on me every step of the way. Graham King, [producer] Denis O’Sullivan, everyone at Fox and New Regency, thank you guys so much. I might not have been the obvious choice but I guess it worked out. Thank you Queen. Thank you guys for allowing me to be the tiniest part of your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy. I am forever in your debt.”

He ended his speech by thanking the love of his life Lucy Boynton, who played Mercury’s love interest in the film. Rami said, “Lucy Boynton, you’re the heart of this film. You are beyond immensely talented you have captured my heart. Thank you so much.”

We wish Rami a speedy recovery.
