John Turturro is a magnetic actor. Whatever role you give him, he will steal the focus of the audience. He has that kind of charisma hovering around him. You put him into any part, and he will play it like a boss. But this time he is going to be a very real and mean Crime Boss, Carmine Falcone. Matt Reeves surprises everyone with his casting decisions. No one could have thought how amazing John would be as the new Batman villain.
I love the idea that the upcoming Batman film has so many villains. It will have a complicated storyline, which Batman fans have loved since Christopher Nolan’s Dark knight trilogy. Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson have some big shoes to fill.
John Turturro has a cold intonation in his voice which makes him pretty intimidating and dark at certain times. I am keen on seeing his version of the egomaniacal Carmine Falcone. In Batman Begins, Falcone didn’t get much screentime as the story was in layers. If John is playing the character, he should get some more screentime and a pivotal role.
John is joining the ensemble with Robert Pattinson as the ninth live-action Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Feral as the Penguin, and Paul Dano as the riddler. There are a few more casting decisions to be made before we see the entire bigger picture. I can’t wait to see some official images of the characters.
