Turns out, plenty. Sodium manages fluid balance and maintains blood volume, along with blood pressure. And so, a moderate influx of it in our diets is a must for us. But, what happens when we cross that threshold? Well, consuming too much sodium may increase blood pressure and cause the fluid in our bodies to retain, resulting in intense swelling of feet and legs.
So, how do we settle on its moderation?
The common target of our sodium intake should be limited at 2,000 milligrams or less each day. Currently, the majority of the privileged population eats four times more than that mark, which is, to say the least, a dangerous territory to be in.
If a food has more than 400 mg of salt, it is high in sodium.
Continuous involvement of these products in your diet will definitely keep you on the higher side of sodium. Also, your dining table should not have salt on it.
Despite its vilification, sodium is pretty important for you.
Sodium is a necessary nutrient, and it creates electrically charged ions. Sodium Chloride offers 40% sodium and 60% chloride by weight.
Cutting down sodium reasonably will make you lose water weight.
It is highly debated whether sodium is good or bad for health. The answer is moderation. If you control your intake, you will be rewarded for it. So make sure you have it under control.
